Database Administrator

Position Overview -  1 Position Available / Permanent – Full time

Location: Midland, TX

Maintain adherence to a data management policy and ensuring that company databases are functional and backed up in the event of memory loss. Ensure that all databases, to include ManagerPlus, stay up-to-date with policies and procedures in place.

 

Essential Functions 

  • Assist in the achievement of meeting company goals and initiatives, profitability and productivity requirements
  • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices
  • Design and implement database in accordance to end users’ information needs and views
  • Define users and enable data distribution to the right user, in appropriate format and in a timely manner
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
  • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users
  • Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards
  • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance of a database to ensure efficient performance
  • Perform database integration to merge existing database into new ones
  • Conduct assessments to identify areas that requires modifications or updates
  • Design and test beta version of a database to determine how well they meet the needs of end users
  • Develop and implement procedures for data storage, organization, and management
  • Liaise with company management to develop database effective in storing and retrieving necessary information
  • Evaluate the needs of users and implement solutions to meet their data management needs
  • Implement security measures to maintain database integrity and protect important data from cyber attack
  • Organize and conduct training to provide users with information on database operations
  • Coordinate the installation and configuration of new or revised systems
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures for database administration
  • Attend workshop and educational programs to update job knowledge and skill
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Experience and Necessary Skills: 

  • Knowledge of ManagerPlus CMMS is preferred
  • Familiarity with database queries
  • Knowledge of database design and theories
  • Knowledge of database structure languages, such as SQL or SQL/PSM
  • Familiarity with database management best practices
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms
  • Good multitasking abilities
  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
  • Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
  • Familiarity with programming languages API
  • Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
  • Strong organizational, planning and scheduling, process management and negotiation skills
  • Strong Writing skills with technical subject matter and oral communication skills
  • Skilled in organization, prioritization and attention to detail
  • Results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization
  • BS degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to stand, sit and/or walk on a hard surface as well as safely bend, stoop, reach, climb steps, and use ladder
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to communicate verbally using a telephone
  • Vision required: 20/40 with or without corrective lenses to accurately read all related distribution documents and computer monitor screens

 

Working Conditions 

  • Office Environment with controlled temperatures
  • Subject to outdoor environment with adjusting temperatures and climate
